Regular techies will know that as soon as one iPhone arrives interest
turns to the next one so shortly after the arrival of the iPhone 5 we
are already starting to think about its successor, probably to be called
the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6. As well as discussing likely specs,
features etc. we always find it intriguing to think about what it will
look like and today we look ahead to an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Pro design
and ask what you think.
When the iPhone 4S turned up looking the same as the iPhone 4 we
hoped for something more groundbreaking in looks for the iPhone 5.
However although there was a two-tone color effect and the display was
longer there was still nothing to make us really sit up and pay
attention. We always enjoy seeing concept designs that give us an idea
of alternative looks for phones and recently told you about an iPhone 6
concept that moved the home button to the left hand side of the phone.
Today we have more concept designs for you to take a look at.
The first (see above) comes from designer Jacob Williams and although
there are no major changes to grab our attention one thing that did
catch our eye is the blue strip for adjusting volume by sliding it up
and down. The idea is that the user can also hold down the blue strip
to mute the toggle on/off and when you do so the light will flash to
show this has been done. As the Mute toggle is incorporated in the blue
strip the spot where it used to be is taken by the power button. There
are no further imaginings from the designer as to specs and features
but we’ve already been discussing the possibilities here.
In yet another set of designs (see below), this time from Ben Ling,
the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Pro make further concept appearances and this
time specs have been offered too. The iPhone 6 Pro model features a
4.55-inch Retina display with resolution of 1280 x 720 and includes a
keyboard (very un-Apple like). The addition of the keyboard makes it
11m thick and 139g. The standard iPhone 6 by comparison also has a
4.55-inch Retina display with the same resolution as the Pro but the
lack of a keyboard makes this one 7mm thick and 120g.
Both phone ideas have an A7 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM,
16,32 or 64GB of storage and LTE connectivity. We think many people
would love to see the next iPhone turn up with these specs, which also
include a 13-megapixel rear iSight camera, 2-megapixel front-facing
shooter with 1080p video capture and 2100 mAh battery, all running on
the next major Apple mobile OS upgrade, iOS 7. We’d love to know what
you think of these concept images and specs for the iPhone 6 and 6 Pro?
Which design, if any would you like to see become a reality? Would you
be pleased if the next iPhone had the above specs? Send your comments
to us about this.
