Motorola X 5-inch Key Lime Pie Phone at Google I/O

There were many that wondered what Google’s takeover of smartphone manufacturer Motorola would eventually mean for the two companies going forward. Some felt it may be a risky move by the search engine giant, and others have been worrying that Google would actually have favouritism for Motorola regarding the Android platform. Now talk of a Motorola X 5-inch phone running Android key Lime Pie at the Google I/O 2013 event are gathering pace.
We first rumours that Google and Motorola were working on some new Android hardware that included a powerful smartphone as well as a tablet just before Christmas, and now more speculation has emerged about the two companies working on a Motorola X phone.
Some are suggesting this will be the next Nexus smartphone that comes after other reports suggested that LG were working on the Nexus 5, but the Motorola made device is now being rumoured to be the first smartphone to be running the yet to be announced Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie operating system.

It seems though if these reports are accurate that Google may be changing direction and wants the X Phone to be a normal smartphone instead of a Nexus device. Up until now new versions of the Android operating system have been launched on new Nexus hardware, and the Motorola X Phone is being tipped to be unveiled at the Google I/O 2013 event that is taking place in May.
The new smartphone is being tipped to be available on all carriers in the US instead of just one company like previous Motorola flagship smartphones. This makes sense as having handsets available to as many consumers as possible will surely push up sales.
This latest rumours are suggesting the smartphone would feature a 5-inch edge-to-edge display, and the rumour that has emerged via the Droid Forums stresses the Motorola X will not be a Nexus handset. As we get closer to the Google I/O event we can expect to hear more leaks about the next batch of Nexus hardware along with news about the Android operating system.
The LG Nexus 4 has had issues regarding availability and won’t have gone unnoticed at Google despite the manufacturer laying the blame at the search engines door, and even if supply now keeps up with demand many Android fans will have given up getting hold of one now and wait for alternative options to become available.
