LG is looking to be more of a major force in the smartphone world
during 2013, and already we have seen numerous leaks of new handsets
from the company. Now the LG Optimus G Pro has been made official and
its curved design mimics the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
The handset was recently revealed in Japan but the company has now
revealed the version that will be seen in the rest of the world, and is
expected to make its debut at this month’s Mobile World Congress. The
company has basically confirmed what we have recently learnt, and the
big difference over the Japanese model is the larger 5.5-inch Full HD
1080p touchscreen display.
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad core processor
clocked at an impressive 1.7GHz, which is paired with 2GB of RAM. There
is also a 13 megapixel rear facing camera with a 2.1 megapixel unit on
the front, with both cameras capable of Full HD video capture.
The handset is not just a stretched version of the Japanese model as
there is the glitter like pattern on the back that is similar to the
Nexus 4, and the curved display provides the handset with what LG are
calling a 2.5D effect.
It is down to be released by the end of the month in the company’s
home country of South Korea, and hopefully at MWC 2013 we will get more
details about the LG Optimus G Pro’s availability elsewhere in the world along with that all important pricing.
